Andrew Root's well-received Ministry in a Secular Age series offers a developed practical theology that uniquely attends to divine action. Series volumes engage with Charles Taylor's articulation of our cultural context and the challenge he raises for Christian life in a Western world that has found divine action increasingly unbelievable. This project provides not only a needed and deep dialogue with the issues Taylor presents but also offers a constructive vision for confronting Taylor's challenge. Volumes include:
· Faith Formation in a Secular Age: Responding to the Church's Obsession with Youthfulness
· The Pastor in a Secular Age: Ministry to People Who No Longer Need a God
· The Congregation in a Secular Age: Keeping Sacred Time against the Speed of Modern Life
· Churches and the Crisis of Decline: A Hopeful, Practical Ecclesiology for a Secular Age
· The Church after Innovation: Questioning Our Obsession with Work, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship
· The Church in an Age of Secular Mysticisms: Why Spiritualities without God Fail to Transform Us

my heart should cry out more
As you read and meditate on these poems, your thoughts become centred on God, His goodness to us, His love for us and His great character.
You also become more aware of our fallen and brokenness, and the need for His grace and redemption. Who doesn't need to do that.
I am not a poetry reader, but enjoyed delving into this book and thinking about the poem, the associated verses and the Questions presented.
I often reflectively prayed through the poem at the end.
This is the kind of book that can sit on the coffee table. The illustrations are beautiful and picking it up and reading a poem, even randomly, will bring you nearer to our good God.

An important book for our generation!
In the wake of a generation raised on Dobson’s teaching, Meredith Miller provides a positive alternative for nurturing faith in our children, and healing some of our own hurts as adults in the process. I think this book is vitally important for parents and ALL adults who work with children in a church or similar teaching context. It is practical and hopeful, grounded in research and sound theology. I bought an extra 8 copies so I could run a book club discussion group.
